How high should my credit score number be to get approved for a credit card?
I’m 27 and trying to apply for my first credit card. I have no debts and a 2.6 yr. history of credit, (off a charge card). I have a score of 723. What are credit card lenders looking for when deciding to approve/deny me for a credit card?
I’m looking for a card that I can use at a grocery store/gas station and just use it a couple of times a month. No annual fees too 
Your credit rating is fine, especially for a young person. (The longer your history of credit, the better your rating, so young people can’t score points for having a long history.) You will have no problems at all on that score. You don”t say anything about your income, but if you have a stable job, you will be approved easily. Stable income plus a good rating is exactly the sort of customer they want.
And you are right to want to avoid fees. Some cards impose charges at every turn, so be careful about where you apply.
